ELLEN ALLEN, founder
Boulder Entrepreneur, Ellen Allen, is an award-winning artist and scholar with degrees from both Pratt Institute, NY, NY and the University of Colorado at Boulder. She is the Founder/Director of the Boulder Start Up, the Art of Modeling, established in 2019.
Ellen was a sought-after fine arts model in the San Francisco & Monterey Bay Areas. Ellen also managed a professional commercial fashion model with dual representation in San Francisco & Denver, working directly with booking agents at two major talent agencies for a decade. She managed the model on site at several dozen photo & video shoots with major clients, including LL Bean, North Face, Uber, Firefox-Mozilla, and Tommy Hilfiger. Ellen combined these rich experiences, identified a niche market and created a boutique
Before Ellen started up the Art of Modeling, she interned in arts administration for the Boulder County Arts Alliance, and worked in arts administration for the Arts Hub Performing & Visual Arts Center, and for the NoBo Art District, where she drew inspiration from other female leaders in the local arts world while formulating the Art of Modeling.
Besides running the Art of Modeling, Ellen is currently the scribe for the NoBo Art District Board and a regular NoBo Art District volunteer. She has also coordinated volunteers, managed the Bus Stop Gallery & the NoBo Art Center, served as a Gallery Attendant at the Bus Stop Gallery, and performed various administrative tasks for the NoBo Art District.
Ellen is proud of her volunteer involvement in both the Boulder, CO and the Scotts Valley, CA communities that she and her family have made their homes and since returning to Boulder has continually donated her time & experience in the arts to the Dairy Arts Center, Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art (BMoCA), The Boulder County Arts Alliance (BCAA), The City of Boulder's Office of Arts & Culture's (BAC) Boulder Arts Week (BAW), Arts Parts Creative Reuse Center, Art Walk Longmont, and currently to the NoBo Art District.
Art of Modeling isn't a non profit, but it is a mission driven woman (minority) owned small business that strives to build community, host free offerings, collaborate with other local organizations, train new art models, and set professional high standards.
